Dr. Hassan Osman isse was today assassinated in Mogadishu . Hassan Osman Isse, popularly known as Dr Burane, was a dermatologist and one of Somalia’s most prominent doctors.
It’s reported that a group of armed militants killed the doctor in his house which is near a local restaurant Caynushami Al-Baraka.
The doctor, who also worked at the Burane clinic which he founded, is said to have been a doctor who provided free medical care to the poor in Mogadishu and was one of the few doctors who did not leave the country during the civil war.
The responsibility for his killing is yet to be claimed although similar assassinations are on the rise in Mogadishu.
A similar case took place last week where Mohamed Abdi Ahmed who was the district commissioner of Hamar Ja-jab in Mogadishu was assassinated.
The deceased was an officer in the armed forces before studying medicine in the early 1980s.
