144 Nigerian police officers join AMISOM.

The Nigerian government has sent 144 officers with special training to the African Union Mission in Somalia.

Daniel Ali Gwambal, AMISOM Police Operations Coordinator, confirmed that 30 of these officers will be transferred to Hir-Shabelle, Beledweyne, where they will be operating for a year, while the rest will be based in Mogadishu.

The reason for the increase is to reduce the AMISOM Police Force to coincide with the departure of African Union troops on leave who have the support of the United Nations
Security Council.

It’s said that the somali National Army will be transfered the responsibility to for them to ensure the safety and protecttion their nation , Somalia.

The AMISOM Police Operations Coordinator
Said that these officers have the experience to oversee the checkpoints and the police stations they work with, and that they are providing security to work with the Somali Police Force.
