In a recent move, the government of Somalia has officially prohibited the use of the 1xbet gambling service, asserting that it goes against the country’s religious principles and legal framework. The announcement, issued by the Committee for the Prevention of Terrorist Financing and Money Laundering, stated that 1xbet has negatively impacted individuals’ finances, social culture, and national security.
The committee has directed financial institutions to refrain from engaging with individuals associated with 1xbet, urging them to close financial accounts tied to the service. This decisive action aligns with the government’s broader efforts to safeguard its citizens from what it perceives as detrimental influences.
Notably, the government has previously imposed bans on platforms such as ixbet, TikTok, and Telegram. However, in response to public outcry, it has temporarily suspended the bans on these services. The move to prohibit 1xbet reflects the government’s commitment to maintaining a balance between technological advancements and the preservation of cultural and religious values.
