The Federal Government of Somalia has denied a report making the claim that it owns land in Berlin’s Friedenau neighborhood, allegedly containing historic buildings in the country.
The denial came from Alii Omar Balcad the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia.
In a post published on X, Balcad stated that the land in question does not exist under Somalia’s ownership, adding that the Somali Embassy operates on rented premises.
He challenged the accuracy of the report,
“Somalia does not have buildings in Berlin where did you get this information? Our embassy operates in a rented office. Please, if you have evidence supporting your claim, present it, and help us either locate this building you described or remove these misleading reports.”He said
The Minister also called for official proof to be provided, emphasizing that if such evidence cannot be produced, the public should consider the claims misleading and inaccurate.
The Federal Government has previously responded to similar rumours, warning against the sharing of information that is not verified and urging the public to avoid spreading false claims.
