Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre Heads to Dhusamareeb

The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre is traveling to Dhuusamareeb, the capital of the Galmudug State, to meet with the leadership of the administration and different segments of society.

Before arriving in Dhuusamareeb, Hamza Abdi Barre was preceded by the Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency Mahad Mohamed Salad, who held several meetings with President Qoorqoor, as well as with Galmudug officials and community representatives.

The Prime Minister is also joining these discussions, which aim to address Galmudug’s future plan including how upcoming elections and potential reforms could be integrated into the administration.

The Federal Government of Somalia said it is working to ensure that Galmudug conducts public elections in a manner similar to the process in Banadir Region and the South West Administration.

The Federal Government also emphasized that the current administration remains committed to strengthening democratic governance through credible, people centered elections.

Officials noted that the country aims to move toward a one person one vote system, ensuring that citizens across Galmudug can participate directly in choosing their leaders.

This approach, they said, is intended to promote transparency, public trust, and a smoother electoral process aligned with election best practices in other regions such as Banadir and the South West Administration.
