Somaliland: Gaan-Libaah Rebels group Strike Again: Kidnap Driver and Vehicles in Daring Border Assault.

Rebels from the Gaan-Libaah Mountain in Somaliland’s Sahil region carried out an attack in the Dabagorayaale area near the border with Ethiopia.

Armed with assault rifles, they targeted a police station and customs office, disarming the officers and seizing weapons.

Subsequently, they abducted two vehicles owned by the Hello Trust mine detection organization, along with a driver named Ahmed Adan Omar.

The rebel leader, Ofwareen, instructed the local community to refuse paying taxes.

Notably, these rebels had previously kidnapped eight individuals, including military personnel and elders, who attempted to negotiate their disarmament, but later released them.

Last week, Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi assured Peaceful elections amidst reports of these group gathering on Gaan-Libah Mountain

Somaliland’s President, Muse Bihi Abdi, addressed commented on Mount Gaan-Libah, which had then gathered expressing confidence that there won’t be any significant problems or political rivalries during the elections.

He dismissed media reports about the militants, assuring that the situation is not as alarming as portrayed.
