Somalia President pledge “full blown” war on Alshabaab following deadly attack on Hotel at Mogadishu

Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud pledged “an all-out war” to eliminate Al-Shabaab after the jihadists staged a deadly 30-hour hotel siege in Mogadishu. The attack was the worst to hit Mogadishu since he took office and underscored the challenge of trying to crush the gang.

While addressing the Nation some days after the deadliest attack in Hayat hotel the president said Al-Shabaab is like a deadly snake in your clothes, there is no solution other than to kill it before it kills you.

Somalia president  further said he is determined to weaken Al-Shabaab and liberate it from the country as their continued attacks degrade the Somali government’s ability to both provide security and alleviate the dire humanitarian situation in the country.

Somalia Currently is also facing  a grave  humanitarian crisis . The drought is indeed driving this crisis. Increased food prices, limited supplies and breakdown in supply chains as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine are exacerbating the impact of the natural disaster.

Reaching populations and providing aids to those in need will also require access to all areas in the country and some areas are isolated because of insecurity or are controlled by Al-Shabab. This areas need to be liberated from Al-Shabab fighters so that they are accessible for humanitarian aid.
