Somalia: Defense Minister says local youth fighting alongside military against Alshabaab offensive will be considered for military roles.

Minister Abdul Qadir said that the local youths known as Maawusley who have been fighting along the government forces will be considered for weapons and military equipment with the Federal Government forces and will be considered for military role because they have the same goals to a chieve

Abdulkadir Mohamed Noor, the Minister of Defense has indicated that the Federal Government is working to make the future of local youth into National Soldiers to carry out the duties of maintaining security in their areas.

“No one living under Al-Shabaab is free, our children are not free. our duty is to find what we can and the first thing is that the future of the national forces Be part of Somalis, the army will not fail to cooperate and give you the weapons, ammunition, food and vehicles it has, it is your duty to ensure that this area and similar areas are freed from Al-Shabaab” Minister of Defense said.

The Commander of the National Army, Gen.  Yusuf Rage, Minister of Defense of Somalia Abdul Qadir Mohamed Noor Jama and other officials met with Somali forces, Hir-Shabelle dervishes and local organized youths known as “Magavusleyda” in operations against Al-Shabaab in Hiran Region.
