On Tuesday, the National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) of Somalia distributed essential ration aid to more than 900 families in Bulo-Haji, located in the Lower Juba region. This significant relief effort aims to “provide critical support to vulnerable communities affected by recent disruptions.” according to SoDMA.
The distribution of aid comes amidst heightened security activities in the region. Just last week, Somali National Armed Forces, alongside Jubbaland regional troops, successfully eliminated around 100 Al-Shabaab militants who attempted to capture strategic bases in Bulo-Haji.
In addition to providing aid, the SoDMA visit also served as an opportunity to assess the broader humanitarian conditions in Jubbaland. The agency said its efforts reflect ongoing commitments to supporting affected populations and addressing immediate needs in conflict-impacted areas.
The assistance provided is crucial for the families in Bulo-Haji, who are facing challenges in the wake of recent military engagements and ongoing efforts to counter instability.
