Puntland Forces Neutralize ISIS Drone Threat Amid Ongoing Operations.

Security forces of Puntland State in Somalia have on Thursday afternoon successfully intercepted and destroyed three explosive-laden drones deployed by ISIS militants during an attempted attack in the Cal-Miskaad mountains of the Bari region. This marks a significant milestone in Puntland’s ongoing offensive against terrorist groups operating in the area.

The attempted drone attack, which occurred Thursday night, comes as Puntland intensifies its counterterrorism operations aimed at clearing ISIS fighters from their strongholds in the rugged mountain terrain. Officials confirmed that the drones, believed to be equipped with explosives, were neutralized before they could inflict any damage.

“This is a testament to the preparedness and vigilance of our forces,” stated a senior Puntland security official. “The terrorists’ tactics are evolving, but our troops are equipped and trained to counter these threats effectively.”

The ongoing military operation, bolstered by recent airstrikes from international allies, seeks to eradicate ISIS elements entrenched in the remote Cal-Miskaad mountains. Puntland’s forces have committed substantial resources, including ground troops and aerial support, to dismantle terrorist infrastructure and restore security in the region.

The Cal-Miskaad mountains have long served as a hideout for ISIS fighters and other insurgent groups, taking advantage of the area’s remote and difficult terrain. Puntland’s sustained operations, including recent offensives such as the “Hillaac” campaign, aim to eliminate these threats and secure the region for its residents.

Puntland authorities have urged local communities to cooperate with security forces and report any suspicious activities to expedite the mission’s success.
