The Minister of Internal Security of the Federal Government of Somalia, Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail Fartaag, recently held a special meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, Wang Yu.
The two officials discussed various aspects of security and collaboration between the two nations according to close confidant reports.
During the meeting, China announced its commitment to assist Somalia in addressing the dangers posed by landmines. This support comes as part of a broader initiative to enhance security measures within the country.
Ambassador Wang Yu revealed that China will allocate one million dollars to efforts focused on mine clearance and community awareness campaigns. This funding aims to mitigate the risks associated with landmines, which continue to pose a significant threat to the safety of Somali citizens.
Ambassador Wang emphasized that “China plays a crucial role in ensuring security and preventing mine-related hazards.
The collaboration is said to highlights the importance of international partnerships in addressing local security challenges.
Minister Fartaag stated, “We appreciate the Chinese government’s support in mine clearance and equipping security agencies. This partnership will strengthen Somalia’s security and enhance citizen safety.”
