Eight people have been confirmed dead while two others sustained injuries after a wall collapsed in families displaced by the Shabelle region at a camp in the Garasbaaley Department.
Speaking to Mustaqbal , one of the residents in the area said that six (6) died immediately on the site while two others succumbed while receiving treatment in the hospital for the serious injuries.
“An old wall has collapsed on these people, six died,They were a mother, her children and some other neighbors.Two of the four who we injured died in the hospital,the other two are nursing serious injuries. The cause of the wall collapsing could be the last heavy rains that have softened the building. ”Ismail Hussein Hussein told Mustaqbal .
The Internally displaced persons’ camp where this incident occurred are occupied by families who have been displaced from the Lower Shabelle region, especially in the areas of Janaale, Qoryooley, Bariire & other areas after conflict & drought in the said regions.
