Two Injured, 10 Cattle Killed in Nugaal Road accident

A road accident that reportedly caused various losses occurred this morning near Karin Dhiig, southwest of Dangorayo District in Somalia’s Nugaal region, after a fuel tanker collided with a cargo truck.

Two people, including one who was traveling in one of the vehicles involved, were injured in the crash according to the local sources.

Ten cattle being transported in one of the vehicles were also killed, according to local sources.

The fuel tanker was reportedly traveling from Bosaso, the capital of Bari region, while the cargo truck, was coming from the direction of Ethiopia.

The area where the accident occurred has previously recorded several road crashes. Local residents attributed the frequent accidents to excessive speeding by drivers and the poor condition of the roads.

Road accidents in Somalia are often blamed on reckless driving and speeding, especially on rural roads where enforcement is weak. Residents also point to poor road conditions and limited visibility that can worsen collisions.
