The Federal Government of Somalia and Jubbaland regional governments send humanitarian response on the second day Bardheere District in Gedo Region, which experienced devastating effects due to the heavy rains and flooding of the Jubba River in that district.
At least 14 people were killed when flood and heavy downpour hit the area as properties and homes were swept by the raging floods.
Officials including the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Agency who went to Bardheere District yesterday assessed the situation there and have already embarked on emergency assistance.
On Sunday, food, medicine and mosquito repellent and other emergency interventions are scheduled to be delivered to Bardhere District in Gedo Region according to the Minister of Relief and Disaster Management of Jubbaland Ahmed Hassan Omar.
The move is “to help families in distress.” he said.
The next plan for Jubbaland for Bardheere District is to rebuild and strategize on the flood prevention on the area where the water broke flood from to prevent another flood.
Jubbaland authorities have been having difficulties for its officials to go to Bardhere in Gedo region due to the political conflict between the army officers in the region and the regional government.
