The Council of Candidates Union congratulates the national army on their 12th April anniversary of its establishment in the capital.

The 12th April is a great day for the Somali people to celebrate.

As the council of Union, on occasion of 12th April we express our unreserved gratitude and commendation for our gallant Armed Forces.

The members of the House of Representatives who have played a key role the formation of the Army , will never accept that it is used for political gain, as the outgoing President has done in the past when the armed forces attacked former leaders, politicians, administrations and the House.

The Council, in addressing the drought and inflation situation in the country, the critical period in which the country is going through and the bad culture of the outgoing President using excessive force and aggression to achieve political interests recommends that;

1- The funds and expenses catered for most of the celebrations  be diverted to help the needy people who are suffering for lack of iftar particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.

2- In order to avoid situation where the city will be in partial lockdown, disrupting the flow of traffic and the public and not to slow down the day to day activities of the people who are in pursuit of daily bread, we recommend the ocassion be done at the military command and its headquarters as it used to be.

3- That the army refrains from being used to carry out  the erroneous agenda that is intended to disrupt the swearing in of the parliamentarians scheduled for April 14, 2022.

Finally, the Council calls on the Somali people, the government, the heads of state and the international community to take a firm stand against anyone who seeks to undermine the country’s electoral process and compromise democratic processes .
