Somaliland police arrest a driver who killed a nine year old child in a hit- and – run accident in Berbera

Somaliland security forces have carried out a tough operation that lasted for many hours and arrested a driver who committed a horrific act last night in the coastal city of Berbera in the same administration, after he brutally ran over a 9-year-old child and immediately escaped from the scene.

Reports from the Somaliland police indicated that the suspect was identified as Mohamed Farah Jama and was arrested while on the run in Burco.

” The accused who is identified as Mohamed Farhan Jamac, who was the driver of the car that killed a 9-year-old child in a hit- and-run accident was arrested in Burco after he escaped from the scene” said the press release of the Somaliland Police.

The car that caused the accident was left under the police custody after the accident, while the driver who escaped from the scene was finally apprehended.

“The police forces said that they have already seized the car that caused the accident. The police forces also added that they are also chasing a group of young people who were with the accused when the accident happened,” the statement added.

While this operation was going on, more than 300 vehicles of the same type as the car that caused the accident were seized in order to find the suspect who was on the run and was finally arrested.

“A 24-hour operation was conducted to arrest the accused and the car he was driving. More than 300 vehicles of the same type were seized for that matter,” he added.

Somaliland forces sent a strong warning to reckless drivers and indicated that the accused driver will be taken to court to face justice.
