Security forces have carried out a planned operation in Baydhabo, the headquarters of the South West Somalia region and apprehended a man accused of attacking a mosque with a hand grenade in the town.
This effort was carried out by joint forces who came to the scene after a man reportedly hurled a hand grenade in one of the mosques of the neighborhood of the town acccording to security officials
The security agencies have apprehended the man behind the act who tried to escape the scene and he was apprehended and taken to the police station.
A security official for South West reported the attack and how the suspect was arrested and indicated that he is now under the custody of the police.
“The man who committed the insecurity act was immediately arrested by the security forces who were very vigilant ,” said the official who spoke for the South West.
He also sent a message to the public and called on them to closely cooperate with the security agencies and report any acts of insecurity in the town so that police act swiftly.
“I am asking the public to closely work with the security agencies to prevent anything that are threat to the security of the area,” he added.
Baydhabo has been experiencing insecurity incidents in recent times including attacks and planned killings carried out by the Al-Shabaab group.
