Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has congratulated Zambian President-elect Hakainde Hichilema on his re-election, wishing him success as he begins his second term in office.
President Hassan Sheikh conveyed his congratulations to Hichilema following the election, according to a statement.
The Somali president reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Zambia and expanding cooperation on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
He also expressed his wishes for Hichilema’s success during his second term, emphasizing the importance of continued engagement between the two countries.
The congratulatory message comes as Somalia continues to strengthen diplomatic ties with African countries and deepen cooperation on issues of regional stability, development and shared interests.
Hichilema’s re-election will allow his administration to continue pursuing its domestic and foreign policy priorities, while Somalia has indicated its interest in maintaining close cooperation with Zambia on bilateral, regional and international matters.
