Mogadishu Security tightened as Federal Government deploys more Forces

The Federal Government of Somalia has increased the number of security forces deployed to protect Somalia’s capital Mogadishu following a series of explosions reported in parts of the capital last week.

The blasts did not cause any reported casualties.

Additional security personnel have been deployed at vehicle checkpoints across the city to search vehicles and passengers.

Security forces have also been stationed along neighborhood roads to conduct inspections.

Federal security agencies have further stepped up nighttime search operations in districts across the Banadir region. Authorities have not yet released the results of the operations.

Federal government leaders and security agencies have called for strengthened cooperation between the public and security institutions to reinforce public safety.

Meanwhile, sources told Mustaqbal that the Police Military, a specially trained police unit that had previously participated in security operations, has resumed its involvement in the ongoing efforts to strengthen security in the capital.
