AUSSOM Deputy Special Representative of the Chairperson and Officer in Charge, Ambassador Mouktar Osman Karie, held talks in Mogadishu with the UK Ambassador to Somalia, Charles King.
According to AUSSOM, the discussions focused on “improving coordination and deepening the partnership between the mission and the United Kingdom in support of Somalia’s security objectives” .
The two sides also highlighted the importance of protecting civilians and sustaining progress made in the country’s security sector as responsibility for security continues to transition increasingly to Somali forces.
AUSSOM is supporting Somali security forces as the country works to strengthen its capacity to take full responsibility for national security soon .
