Somalia’s Ambassador to Tanzania and non-resident Ambassador to Rwanda, Ilyas Ali Hassan, officially submitted a copy of his credentials today to Rwanda’s Minister of State in charge of Regional Cooperation, James Kabarebe.
The ceremony took place in Kigali, marking a key step in strengthening diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Ambassador Ilyas conveyed greetings from the President of Somalia and expressed Somalia’s interest in deepening bilateral relations with Rwanda.
He emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in areas such as trade, security, and development.
Minister Kabarebe welcomed the ambassador and affirmed Rwanda’s readiness to work closely with Somalia. He acknowledged the historical and cultural ties between the countries and emphasized mutual goals for regional stability and economic progress.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss potential areas of collaboration, including regional integration, peacebuilding, and shared efforts within the East African Community framework.
Ambassador Ilyas’s credential submission marks a renewed chapter in Somalia-Rwanda relations, with both sides expressing optimism for stronger engagement in the years ahead.
