An armed group have last night shot and killed Dr. Mohamed Abdi Ali, known famous as Dr. Gaalib, on Monday night in the Hantiwadaag neighborhood of Jowhar according to close confidant reports .
Dr. Gaalib was the Director of the Department of Religious Affairs at the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs in Hirshabelle State.
The identity of the assailants remains unknown. Dr. Gaalib, a young and educated professional, had previously worked in various healthcare institutions before joining public service.
The attackers fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Police forces arrived shortly afterward and launched an investigation into the incident.
Hirshabelle’s Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, MP Ali Osman Ibraahim expressed condolences to the family and loved ones of the late Dr. Gaalib.
