Puntland State security agencies said that they have arrested Barkhad Awil Hirsi who was one of four prisoners who recently escape from Galkacyo and was sentenced to death for various crimes including murders and bombings
The prisoners escaped from a high-security prison in Galkacyo, Puntland, where they were awaiting execution after sentenced to various crimes including murder.
A statement issued by the Puntland Regional Government Police, which displayed the picture of Barkhad with his hands tied urged the residents to share information regarding the other three fugitives as stated.
The security agencies said that they have rewarded those who brought or shared the information that facilitated the arrest of Barkhad Awil Hirsi who is now under police custody.
The prisoners, suspected of being members of terrorist groups, had previously admitted during interrogations that they were responsible for killing various individuals in Gaalkacyo, including government officials and elders.
“The Puntland Police Forces has arrested Barkhad Awil Hirsi, one of four prisoners who escaped from the Galkayo prison, who were criminals of pending murder and reportedly belonging to a terrorist network that was captured in the city of Galkayo and had already killed many leaders in the region.” said in the statement of Police DG Puntland.
It was added that “the Puntland Police Force has rewarded the citizen who brought the information that led to the arrest of Barkhad Awil Hirsi. There are also fugitives who are on the run including, Abdiqani Saleeban Jama (Saylor), Abdullahi Faisal Hussein (Abujonge) and Abdirahman Awal Mohamed (Sigayste)”.
