Somalia: Mogadishu Mayor Urges Women to Collaborate in Keeping the Capital Clean

The Mayor of Mogadishu who doubles to be the Governor of the Benadir Region, Mohamed Ahmed Amir, has called on women in the region to play an active role in addressing the cleanliness challenges facing the capital.

During a meeting with representatives of women from Benadir, the mayor emphasized the vital role women play in supporting government initiatives.

The Mayor highlighted the administration’s commitment to working collaboratively with the community to tackle issues of poor sanitation in Mogadishu.

Mayor Amir stated that Mogadishu Municipality’s primary focus includes enhancing security, improving sanitation, and illuminating public spaces, which are critical priorities for the local administration.

Since his appointment, Mayor Mohamed Ahmed Amir has held multiple meetings with various community groups, consistently advocating for collective efforts to improve the capital’s cleanliness and overall environment.

He indicated that the call to action underscores the importance of public participation in ensuring a cleaner and healthier city for all residents.
