Somali government forces have in the past few hours launched a planned operation against Al-Shabaab in Sabeed area which is one of the areas under Afgoye district in the Lower Shabelle region.
The officers leading the operation said that they received information that members of Al-Shabaab were gathering and regrouping themselves on the outskirts of Sabeed area, and immediately planned operations were carried out and 20 fighters were killed in the operation.
The governor of Sabeed area in the Lower Shabelle region, Mohamed Abukar Ahmed, said that the members of Al-Shabaab who were killed were sneaking to the outskirts of Sabeed area, and the operation went as planned.
He added that Al-Shabaab has caused various problems to the people of Sabeed area, but the government forces are ready to prevent any action they want to commit.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud called on the people of Hirshabelle and all other regions on Saturday to win the battle to liberate their land from the enemies of the Somali nation.
