Somalia: Government deploys additional troops to the ongoing operations against ‘AS’ in the South of Mudug Region

The Federal Government of Somalia has sent an additional forces of special trained Gorgor Commandos to the south of Mudug Region of Galmudug State Government to strengthen other joint forces to intensify the ongoing operations against Al-Shabab fighters.

These troops are from 7th Brigade of the 18th Brigade of the special trained Somali Gorgor commando forces, they left Mogadishu are expected to pass different areas.

The intention of the Federal Government to increase this force is to strengthen the other forces that the Government has already deployed in cooperation with the Deravishes of the Galmudug Regional Government and the local people as confirmed by various sources.

The officers leading these forces held a special meeting with the officers who were already there and involved in this operation and discussed how to liberate AS fighters from the areas where they are still in control south of Mudug region.

The leadership of the different brigades of the Federal and Galmudug Regional Government said that they are ready to reach the areas that are not under the control of the Regional Government in the South of Mudug Region.
