Gaalkacyo, the capital of Mudug region, has become the center of peace talks aimed at resolving the ongoing clan conflict in the western part of the region.
A top delegation from the Galmudug State administration has yesterday arrived in the city to initiate discussions.
The delegation, consisting of ministers and lawmakers,was led by Galmudug’s Minister of Security, Mohamed Abdi Aden Gaboobe. Speaking to the media, Gaboobe emphasized that the dialogue will revisit previous agreements to identify which terms were violated and determine accountability as per prior resolutions.
Representatives from Puntland State are also expected to arrive in Gaalkacyo today Saturday, to join the talks aimed at resolving the conflicts.
The discussions reportedly involve two primary components, traditional clan elders and officials from both Galmudug and Puntland administrations.
As part of the broader peace initiative, the Presidents of Puntland and Galmudug are expected to visit Gaalkacyo once the discussions progress.
Federal Government representatives are also anticipated to join the efforts to foster stability and reconciliation in the region.
