Somalia’s Minister of Defence, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, met with China’s Minister of Defence, Admiral Dong Jun, in Beijing to discuss ways to strengthen the long-standing relationship between the two countries.
The talks focused on expanding defence and security cooperation, with both sides reviewing opportunities for deeper collaboration in areas of mutual interest and common security priorities.
“Somalia is committed to strengthening its longstanding strategic relationship with China and expanding practical cooperation in defence and security.”Fiqi said
Minister Fiqi emphasized the importance of continued partnership and cooperation, highlighting Somalia’s commitment to building stronger ties with China across security-related initiatives.
Admiral Dong Jun reaffirmed China’s support for closer engagement, expressing interest in further developing practical cooperation that benefits both nations and supports regional stability.
The meeting marks an important step toward advancing defence cooperation, as Somalia and China work together to enhance coordination and strengthen security capacity over the coming period.
