Displaced Families in Bari face dire humanitarian conditions

Hundreds of families displaced from the Ceelgaal area of Qandala District in Somalia’s Bari region earlier this month are facing severe humanitarian conditions.

The families were affected by heavy rains, strong winds and flooding that destroyed their livestock and crops. Some of those displaced were also fishermen who lost their livelihoods.

They are now living in a displacement camp where they reportedly lack adequate food, clean water and financial support to return to their homes and rebuild their lives.

Some families said they do not have enough food to meet their daily needs, with meals not guaranteed every day.

Children who were displaced with their families have also been forced to stop attending school, raising concerns about the impact on their education and future.

Complaints about the situation have been submitted to Puntland authorities, with calls for urgent assistance and support to help the affected families return to their communities and restore the livelihoods they depended on before the disaster.
