President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has formally invited a broad range of political and community leaders to participate in a national consultative forum scheduled for May 10, 2026, in Mogadishu.
According to a statement from the presidency, the forum will bring together politicians, former leaders, traditional elders, and representatives from various segments of society following a series of consultations held in recent months.
The meeting is expected to focus on key national priorities, including elections, strengthening national unity, and shaping Somalia’s political future. Officials said the discussions are intended to foster inclusive dialogue and generate consensus on critical state-building processes.
President Mohamud emphasized the importance of constructive engagement, noting that the current phase requires responsible and forward-looking deliberations that can produce practical outcomes.
He reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to advancing an inclusive political framework based on consultation, unity, and the preservation of Somalia’s sovereignty and statehood.
The planned forum comes at a time when Somalia is navigating complex political transitions, with leaders seeking to build consensus on governance reforms and long-term stability.
