The spokesperson for the Somali Police, Colonel Abdifitah Aden Hassan, addressed the media in Mogadishu, announcing that measures will be taken against individuals filming themselves in military attire.
“Organizations, companies, and anyone recording footage while using military clothing are being instructed to obtain permission from the owners of the uniforms they are using and to coordinate with the authorities responsible for communications,” said the spokesperson for the Somali Police, Colonel Abdifitah Aden Hassan.
This statement is said to underscore the growing concern over the misuse of military uniforms for unauthorized purposes.
Colonel Abdifitah emphasized that the police department’s unit responsible for monitoring social media is actively registering anyone who violates or obstructs this directive. The aim is to ensure accountability for those misusing military garb, which is deemed a serious offense.
Furthermore, all organizations and individuals who record footage while wearing military clothing are being urged to obtain permission from the authorities responsible for the uniforms they are using. This request highlights the importance of maintaining the integrity of military attire and preventing its exploitation.
The police have also issued a warning to property owners where groups, particularly youths, gather to film “offensive” content. Colonel Abdifitah stated that those owning such properties will also be held accountable under this new directive.
In addition, the Federal Government’s security agencies have detained individuals accused of “immoral conduct.” The police indicated that these individuals will be presented before a court with the authority to adjudicate their cases, reinforcing the government’s commitment to uphold law and order.
