Puntland forces seize food supplies allegedly destined for ISIS-linked militants.

Security forces in Puntland have intercepted a consignment of food supplies allegedly being transported to fighters affiliated with the ISIS-linked militant group operating in the Bari region.

According to Puntland’s Defence Forces, the operation was carried out in Yalho, a locality in Bari, following a planned security raid targeting militant supply routes. The seized items included flour, rice, powdered milk, and cooking oil, which authorities say were intended to sustain ISIS militants who have been engaged in clashes with Puntland forces.

Senior security officers told the media that the operation was successful after “intelligence units tracked the movement of the supplies before the military moved in to confiscate them” .

Puntland authorities also revealed that they have recently introduced new tactics in their counter-ISIS operations, known as Operation Hillaac. The strategy focuses on blocking the group’s financial streams and supply networks in an effort to weaken their ability to operate in remote mountainous areas.

Security agencies in Puntland further stated that they have detained foreign nationals linked to the militant group. In a recent incident, Puntland Defence Forces presented to the public an Ethiopian national they said was part of ISIS operations in the region.

Puntland continues to wage a sustained campaign against ISIS-affiliated fighters, who operate mainly in the rugged terrain of the Bari mountains.
