Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is expected to arrive in Dhusamareb on Thursday to attend the inauguration ceremony of Galmudug’s newly elected leader, Libaan Axmed Hasan.
The President is expected to address the ceremony, with his speech likely to cover key national issues, particularly the country’s electoral process and security situation.
His visit comes amid continuing disagreements over Somalia’s electoral arrangements. The National Electoral Commission recently announced that elections for the two houses of the Federal Parliament are scheduled for April 2027.
The inauguration brings together senior Federal Government officials and other invited dignitaries in Dhusamareb, the capital of Galmudug State.
