Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, officially launched the 2026 National Secondary School Examination for Grade 12 today.

This year, a total of 44,136 students are set to take the exam, as stated by the Ministry of Education of the Federal Government of Somalia.

The candidates will sit for the national exam across 58 districts, including Mogadishu and other regions of the country.

The examination is being supported through 158 examination centers, with arrangements made to deploy registered teachers, staff, and ensure security coverage by the Federal Government’s security forces.

The Prime Minister of the federal Government of Somalia Hamza Abdi Barre in his remarks urged the students to work hard and succeed in the examinations.

He emphasized that the progress Somalia’s youth can achieve is the result of cooperative effort—between students, educators, and the government—building toward a better future.

He also praised education leadership for its positive role in expanding students’ knowledge and urged school authorities to continue their important contribution to the development of Somalia’s children.

“Our religion places great value on knowledge and education. Knowledge is the foundation of success and progress. I commend the Ministry of Education for continuing to conduct this national examination with importance, and I also recognize and appreciate the role of the security institutions,” Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre said.

The Grade 12 national exam will run for six days and is scheduled to conclude on Thursday, 25 June. Students are now awaiting results to be announced by the Ministry of Education, Heritage, and Higher Learning of Somalia.

The Ministry of education reaffirmed its commitment to conducting credible and transparent national exams that uphold educational standards across the country
