The President of the federal Government of Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh and his accompanying delegation arrived today in Doha, the State of Qatar.
The purpose of the President’s visit is said to convey his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Qatar following the death of the Emir’s father, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
At the Hamad International Airport, the President and his delegation were welcomed by Qatar’s Minister of Transport, the Ambassador of Somalia to Qatar, and other top officials.
According to sources, the President is scheduled to hold a private meeting with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, to extend condolences for the passing of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Somalia has announced three days of mourning, along with the flag being lowered following his death.
President Hassan Sheikh reportedly plans to hold separate meetings with international leaders who are arriving in Doha to participate in the condolences ceremony for the former Emir of Qatar.
