According reports clashes between government forces and armed elements affiliated with the opposition politicians reportedly erupted at the house for several hours, resulting in deaths and injuries.
Diplomatic efforts led by government officials, with Mahad Salad at the forefront, were said to have succeeded in persuading former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheyre to leave the residence in Hawlwadag and return to his earlier home in the area near Adde Stadium.
