It is on the third day of the Somali national elections conference between federal Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Rooble, Presidents of the federal member states of Galmudug, Southwest, Jubbaland, Puntland, Hir-Shabeelle and Governor of Banadir, the Mayor of Mogadishu.
The two sides in the Saturday and Sunday talks went differently from previous meetings that ended with no settlement between the Federal, member States & Banadir authorities and in the current engagement, there is no dispute that has come to the public limelight.
What are the expectations from the national elections dialogue Conference ?
Independent media houses are not allowed in but Mustaqbal has reliably established that strength of the talks on Monday will focuses on the federal government , states and local authorities in Banadir establishing the following agendas.
1) Elections Schedule for the two Houses of the Federal Parliament and the President.
2 )Who will be the key representative to address (any) Somaliland issue which had been the basis of an argument in the previous meetings between former Speaker of the upper House and the deputy Prime Minister?
3) Changing the electoral constituencies to make up of or sumarise the centers operated by the State governments.
4) Preparing a specific time (settling deadlines) to submit to the members of the technical and elections Committee at the Federal state and members State level.
Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Rooble has requested the support of all political players after taking over the responsibility of security and elections on May 1, 2021 to facilitate the holding of parliamentary and presidential elections.
