Floods push Jowhar inflation.

The town of Jowhar, which has been isolated by floods from the Shabelle river, had its transport system suspended for weeks occasioninig a surge in the price of foodstuffs that are in the city.

The Jowhar City Commissioner has appealed for immediate address on the negative effects of flooding as families displaced are without food therefore on the verge of causing humanitarian crisis.

Prices Flour that were traded for $22 (Twenty-two dollars) before the floods but today you will be charged $28 (Twenty-eight dollars) price for rice was $26 (Twenty-six dollars) it now reached $28 (Twenty-eight dollars) while Sugar was $27 (Twenty eight dollars) it reached $34 (Thirty four dollars).

Commodities whose price has gone up substantially are flour, rice, Sugar and oil. This has affected families displaced by the floods in the city of Jowhar most of which are farmers whose harvests that were due in few weeks were destroyed by the raging floods.
