The national consultative meeting between the Prime Minister of the Federal government overnment, the heads of States and the Governor of Banadir has entered its last days and key points for holding the country’s elections are deliberated upon.
The Elections dialogue is at the heart of a debate on how to address some of the obvious barriers to previous negotiations so that leaders can understand each other to achieve a consensus .
The agendas on the table include: how to resolve issues raised by politicians and leaders from the Northern States (Somaliland) who could not come to common ground on the leadership of the electoral agency.
The two sides of the northern Politicians (Somaliland) argue that they deserve leadership as they were left out of the previous discussions on electoral issues and were not part of the parties that signed the September 17, 2020 agreement.
Once a settlement is reached on the Somaliland issue, a local electoral review is on the table to summarize the one city in the holding Parliamentary elections for the Federal Parliament of Somalia
Sources close to the meeting told Mustaqbal that this week when the talks end, a statement will be issued confirming the terms agreed upon by Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Rooble, the five federal member States and Governor of Banadir.
