The Head of the African Union Mission in Somalia, Ambassador Francisco Madeira, praised the Republic of Djibouti for its peacekeeping role and responsibility in the region.
Madeira commended the leaders and people of the Republic of Djibouti for their support to Somalia, cooperation with the African Union and their interest in stability in the Horn of Africa.
“As AMISOM leaders, we commend the role of the Republic of Djibouti in the peacekeeping mission in Somalia. Of course, Djibouti is 44 years old and has been working for stability in the Horn of Africa,” he said.
The Djiboutian contingent in Central Somalia has been urged by the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) Ambassador and Head of Mission to increase its operations and fulfill its security responsibilities in the region . Djibouti is one of the troop contributors to AMISOM in South Central Somalia, with Uganda, Burundi, Kenya and Ethiopia.
