Kenya Airways has said that they don’t have any operational flights between Nairobi and Hargeisa, Somaliland. KQ was to operationalize plans to launch flights to Egal International Airport in Hargeisa in a move that was seen to be geared towards enhancing trade relations.
Speculations were circulating in social media that the flag carrier airline of Kenya were planning to operationalize flights between Kenya and the break away autonomous region of Somaliland.
The airline in a statement on their official pages say that such ” plans are on hold pending the requisite approvals ”
Kenya banned flights to and from Somalia few days ago.
The development came after Somalia government has issued a statement to the effect that all Miraa flights remain suspended until further notice and that any entry of the herbs without the permission of the relevant regulatory authority will be considered an act of violation of its airspace.
