Joint Security operations by Federal and South West forces strengthen safety on Baidoa outskirts.

There are reports of tough security operations in the outskirts of Baidoa the temporary administrative capital of South West where the government has increased to counter increasing threats from Al-Shabaab

According to reports, joint forces are working together including the Federal troops and the South West State’s forces and have established new operational bases in areas around Baidoa in the Bay region.

The leadership of the South West State has issued an order directing senior officers to accelerate ongoing missions aimed at maintaining stability and protecting residents in Baidoa, which serves as the administration’s temporary capital.

Although Baidoa is said to be relatively stable, the area has reportedly seen renewed military activity by forces under the command of former President Abdiaziz Hassan Laftagareen.

These forces have, on several occasions in the past, carried out attacks on Federal military bases as well as on installations linked to the South West State and its forces operating in Baidoa.

Somalia’s Speaker of the House of the People, Aden Mohamed Nur “Madobe”, has recently been elected President of South West State following a regional election held in Baidoa.
