Federal Government Forces of Somalia, including the Special Gorgor Commandos and members of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), have launched operations against Al-Shabaab in areas of Lower Shabelle region, particularly in the South West State.
The tough operation reportedly took place in regions between Gandarshe and Dhanaane, which are crucial for connecting the capital city, Mogadishu, with the Lower Shabelle capital, Marka, along the coastal route.
The commanding officers of this joint force have reported successes in the ongoing tough operation against Al-Shabab fighters, indicating that they have seized control of significant territories.
Brigadier General Sahid Jama Farah Jarere, Commander of the Gorgor Commandos, urged the troops to intensify their operations targeting Al-Shabaab-held areas to ensure further gains.
