Jubbaland First Vice President Mohamud Sayid Adan inaugurated the first meeting of Jubbaland politicians from Gedo Region with the committee tasked by Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble to assess the situation in the second Jubbaland elections (Garbaharey).
Representatives of the two houses of parliament in Gedo region, members of the upper house and politicians from Gedo region attended the meeting.
The delegates presented a report to the commission summarizing the challenges surrounding holding an election in Garbaharey and its solution.
Jubbaland Vice President Mohamud Sayid Adan said the commission had presented a number of challenges to holding elections in Garbaharey and how they could be resolved for smooth elections
The issue of Gedo region between Villa Somalia and the Jubbaland administration has been simmering for almost two years, and a report is awaited from the committee appointed by the Prime Minister on the situation in Garbaharey.
