Galmudug State President Liban Ahmed Hassan has made his first official trip outside Dhusamareb since his inauguration on Thursday, arriving in Jowhar to attend the inauguration ceremony of his HirShabeelle counterpart, Ali Gudlawe Hussein.
Liban was welcomed in Jowhar, where he held an initial meeting with HirShabeelle President Ali Abdullahi Hussein (Gudlawe).
The Galmudug leader is expected to undertake several other trips and hold consultations to shape the political direction of his administration as he prepares to form his Cabinet. Sources close to him said he has sufficient time to complete the process.
The Federal Government of Somalia has conducted direct public elections in Banadir, South West, Galmudug and HirShabeelle states. However, some opposition members have rejected the elections, raising concerns over the electoral process.
