Djibouti Police Chief visits Mogadishu to strengthen ties

The Chief of the Djibouti National Police, Colonel Abdiraḥman Ali Kahin, arrived today in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu where he was warmly welcomed.

The visit follows an official invitation extended to him by his Somali counterpart, Major General Asad Osman Abdullahi.

The purpose of the trip is said to further strengthen cooperation between the two police forces and to explore how the Djibouti government can play a meaningful role in supporting the development and capacity-building of the Somali Police.

Speaking to the media, Kahin said his mission is to contribute his experience and support toward building the force, adding that he intends to directly assess the real conditions of the Somali police.

“I want to travel to various regions of the country and learn the official information about the Somali Police, so we can understand existing needs and the extent of the brotherly support we should provide,” he said.

He also noted that cooperation in the areas of security and training between the two countries is long-standing, and that this visit is a step toward expanding that broader partnership between the two nations’ police services.

The Chief of the Somali Police, Major General Asad Osman Abdullahi on his part thanked his Djibouti counterpart for coming to Somalia, describing the visit as a reflection of the deep relationship and brotherhood shared between the people and governments of the two countries.
