Kenyan Security forces kill 11 Al-Shabaab Militants in border operation

Kenyan security forces have killed 11 suspected Al-Shabaab militants during an intelligence-led operation near the Kenya-Somalia border, authorities said.

According to the Kenya Centre for Counter Terrorism Policing, the operation was carried out by the Special Operations Group (SOG) against a makeshift Al-Shabaab camp located near the border with Somalia.

The agency said the operation targeted approximately 30 militants who were allegedly preparing to launch an attack on one of the border villages in Mandera County.

The early morning assault, which combined ground troops with aerial support, resulted in the deaths of 11 suspected militants, while seven others were seriously wounded, according to the statement.

Security forces also recovered three PKM machine guns and approximately 409 rounds of ammunition during the operation.

Authorities said the remaining militants fled across the border into Somalia following the raid.

The operation is part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts by Kenyan security forces to disrupt Al-Shabaab activities along the Kenya-Somalia border, where the militant group has frequently staged cross-border attacks targeting security personnel and civilians.

The Kenya Centre for Counter Terrorism Policing described the operation as a significant blow to the group’s operational plans in the border region.
