AUSSOM Commander urges Ugandan troops to safeguard security gains in Barawe.

Ugandan troops serving under the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) have been urged to remain vigilant and protect hard-won security gains in the strategic town of Barawe.

During a visit to forward operating bases in the area, Battle Group 45 Commander Colonel Justus Musenene commended the troops for their efforts in maintaining stability and supporting ongoing peace and security operations.

The commander emphasized the need for “continued vigilance against emerging threats” and called on the soldiers to uphold discipline, professionalism, and adherence to mission procedures while carrying out their duties.

Colonel Musenene said maintaining operational readiness and protecting the progress achieved in the area remain critical to the success of AUSSOM’s mandate in Somalia.

He also encouraged the troops to remain committed to their mission of supporting peace, security, and stability as Somalia continues efforts to combat insecurity and strengthen state institutions.

Ugandan forces are among the key contributors to AUSSOM, which works alongside Somali security forces to counter Al-Shabaab and support stabilization efforts across the country.
