Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has arrived in Balanbale town in northern Galgaduud region, where he is expected to attend a reconciliation gathering between clans whose militias were previously involved in armed clashes.
Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoorqoor and National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) Director-General Mahad Mohamed Salad were among the officials who welcomed the Prime Minister upon his arrival.
Balanbale has recently hosted reconciliation talks between traditional elders from the clans involved in the previous fighting.
The discussions have reportedly focused on restoring peace and implementing agreements reached by the parties.
Prime Minister Hamza is expected to attend the closing session of the reconciliation process and address the gathering.
Following the meeting, the Prime Minister is also expected to inspect parts of Galgaduud, including facilities where forces being prepared by the Federal Government are undergoing training, as well as other sites in the region.
