Somali Cabinet condemns Somaliland officials’ visit to Jerusalem

The Federal Government of Somalia’s Cabinet Ministers on Thursday jointly condemned the visit by officials from the self-declared Somaliland administration to Jerusalem, a city claimed by Israel, where Somaliland delegation reportedly traveled.

A statement released after the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre officials the federal Government of Somalia said that the Ministers listened to updates on the country’s general situation and addressed multiple national and security developments.

“The Cabinet Ministers strongly condemns the trip made by the leader of the Somaliland administration to Palestinian territory under Israeli occupation. The Ministers noted that this action directly violates the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Somalia, international laws, and the principles protecting the independence of states and the rights of oppressed communities,” the statement said.

The cabinet also praised achievements made by Somalia’s Armed Forces particularly in the ongoing tough operations against the Al-Shabaab militant group ongoing in parts of the country.
